I don't know if my Humira is working

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in november and I was perscribed Humira for it in January since it's an IBD. I've also had psoriasis since last July on my scalp and the back of my neck. I am not taking Humira for my psoriasis but I figured since I'm using it for my UC I could kill two birds with one stone. But I've been using Humira for 6 months now and I have not since had ANY improvement whatsoever with my psoriasis, which makes me worried that it's not working for my UC either. How long before you know Humira isn't working at all?

I started Humira in Janruary also and it didn't help me until I got my dose boosted to one shot once a week. It provided me relief for a few days but then after that I was in complete agony and that's why I switched to Cimzia friday.

Have you seen any improvement in your symptoms UC wise? You may need to add another medication like Methotrexate or 6MP to kick the Psoriasis/UC in the butt. It is deffinately worth looking into talking to your GI about boosting your dose. It could give you relief of symptoms & get you into remission. You can always lower the dose once you hit remission. If Humira was going to work, it would have by now. This is about as much benefit as your ever going to get from it unless you up the dose.

How's your UC? I don't believe it helps every case of psoriasis, and some people get it as a side effect of Humira. Do you see a dermatologist? I'd think that would be the person to ask. There are other treatments available.

I switched to Humira from Enbrel 2-1/2 months age. I was using the Enbrel for my psoriasis (I had 90% body coverage at my worst) and switched because Humira works on Crohn's and psoriasis. My Derm warned me that some people can have a psoriasis flare because of Humira. It's too soon to tell if I will because I'm still on a prednisone taper (5mg for one more week, the 2.5 for 2 weeks). I do notice my psoriasis getting worse as the pred taper goes down but it is pretty much the way it was on Enbrel. Hopefully it stays that way!:ysmile:
