I'm hoping someone out there can assist me. My boyfriend came down with symptoms over two years ago and they have been progressivly getting worse. It began with severe night sweats and significant weight loss. Over time he continued to lose weight and he is now 139 lbs. at 6th. tall with a total loss of 60lbs.

Over the past 6 months his symptoms have become exacerbated and they include: joint pain, weight loss, severe weakness and he is completely unable to perform daily tasks, periods of daily vomiting, daily diarrhea, severe stomach pain, he says it feels like "his insides are hardening / drying up." he has a new GI doctor at Cedars ( this is his 7th one but first GI) but no diagnosis yet and still many more tests. He was tested for everything including crohns but all negative and the most frustrating thing is that the no one in the medical field seems too concerned that he is 44yrs old and dying. I feel so helpless - he says he can't go on like this. He also has benign pulmonary nodules and I found info rare but connecting the two.

Has anyone had these symptoms?

:Welcome: Kellie, wow you must be scared yourself! I had all those symptoms and seen many docs at the time and lost 40 lbs, so sick and a 4 year old. I finally got mad and told my GI and GP to send me back to my original family doctor and OUT of the hospital they were assc with. They begged me to see one more teaching specialist in Toronto and had a Endoscopy barium follow thru to the bowels, and they found it. The Gi there suspected crohns and he was a good doctor. It took a year of tests!!!

60 lbs is way too much weight to lose! Even if he does have a diagnosis, he needs to be treated fast! He probably needs to be on a high dose of Prednisone to get his weight up and symptoms down. Has he been on any meds at all? Please keep us updated. Hugs to you too!

Hi Kellie! I know from firsthand experience it is tough to get a diagnosis. You just can't give up. You need to keep fighting to find answers. And rememeber, the sqeaky wheel gets the grease. So, don't take a back seat approach. You and your boyfriend need to be proactive. I know testing can get really daunting quickly, but you have to get to the bottom of this. Good luck and I hope your boyfriend gets answers soon.
