the event was very cool, and fancy. there was lots of cheese, crackers, orderves, free wine, and other drinks. of course, i couldn't eat cause i felt like crap...but i got a free water
the place they had it at was very nice and everyone there was great. i met so many people with crohn's(and UC) there, it was crazy. there were also a lot of parents of children with crohn's and UC too. the doctors that spoke were very knowledgeable and really want to get more people to come thru Chicago for treatment. they seem cutting edge, ready to really treat ALL crohn's symptoms - nutritional, physical, mental etc. i have always dreamt of finding docs like these
according to these guys, the univ. of Chicago IBD center is in the top five in the nation AND their views on what causes crohn's are very interesting (too much to explain here). i had recently made an appointment at Mayo in MN, but after this event i canceled and got an appointment in Chicago. i can't wait, especially since i am having a very hard time right now. i am not responding to anything and i think i may be ready for surgery
there are other events coming up and i would like to go again. if anyone else is interested there are some meetings coming up in Chicago @ the Marriot on the mag mile. it is for patients only - no unafflicted allowed. there is also a fashion show in october that sounds pretty cool too
