hi all, glad I found this place although i'm yet undiagnosed.have been to countless doctors & EDs over past 9yrs,always get the same tests: they poke/prod my abdomen, give me a rectal, take bloods & do an ab xray...results are always normal & i'm sent home with buscopan/stemetil for 'ibs.last week I had hell contipation & noticed maroon blood in my poo, then diarrhoea since then.noticed some blood for 4-5 days & havent noticed it since.have had crippling pain in my lower left abs, noticed it a year ago but it was dull, got checked for gyno probs & all was fine.doctor has finally booked me in for colonoscopy/gastroscopy

also have bad bloating -i'm a gym junkie & should have a 6pack!,fatigue,dizziness & constant rumbling.

I think it's sending me mad...i shoulve written that the pain is i my lower RIGHT

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear you are not doing well at the moment, the colonoscopy can be a good test to show what is going on inside, also ask the doc if biospies will be taken as they are good at getting a definitive diagnosis. Have you noticed any difference in your symptoms depending on what you eat? For now perhaps try to follow a low fat/low fibre diet and softer foods to see if this helps at all whilst you wait for the scope - has an appt date come through for this at all?

Hope you can get some answers soon

hi & thanks for the post...the surgeon/colononoscopist is doing biopsies for coeliacs & lactose intolerance,he said it sounds like crohns,it feels like a blockage, when I don't have diarrhoea,my stools are narrow & up until about 1-2pm i'm still going to the loo,or feeling like I need to go.i have a brother & sister with coeliacs but I stopped eating gluten about 7mths ago xx I don't have a date yet but was told i'd find out this week...might have to go get stronger painkillers though,i'm taking over-the-counter stuff & it's useless.my 6yo son is wondering why i'm not kicking the footy around or running with him anymore..
thanks so much for all your stoties,i've been busy reading all day & haven't gelt quite so alone/isolated xx

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I can understand your concern and frustration :( I'm glad you're booked for those tests. Please keep us updated as to what they find and let us know if you have any questions or concerns in the mean time.

We're here for you!

Hi and welcome. I too am glad you are finally having the scopes. I hope you get some answers. Please let us know. We do have an undiagnosed club sub-forum here with lots of people diagnosed with IBS but continue to suffer.

My outstanding is that you need to be eating gluten at time of the testing to get and correct reading for coeliac. It Australian that is four pieces of white bread for the six weeks prior to the test.

Did you know there is a gene test for coeliac disease. This test will not confirm coeliac disease but can to used to rule it out to 99.9%. (if don't have either gene you will not get coeliac disease).

Good luck on your scope! I was recently diagnosed via barium x ray having the same exact pain's you were describing in the lower right side of the abdomen. If your scope comes back negative try having a small bowel series. I went 10 years without a diagnosis and the doctors all thought it was IBS and that I was Crazy! During that time I've had 3 colonoscopies, 3 endoscopies, 2 CTscans, blood tests, and even a small bowel series when the disease first started. All came up negative until I requested to have all the tests done again this year. All came back negative again except the small bowel series which showed crohn's in the distal ilium. If it turns out to be Crohn's don't worry you will be ok and the people on this forum are so awesome and friendly. I've gotten so much help and information from everyone here! You totally aren't alone.

thanks so much, you guys are great..it calms my anxiety to read all your experienced,it's an isolating thing, feeling like crap all the time...i'll keep reading the forum & let you know how it goes....not looking forward to colonoscopy prep :-/

oh joy..:) at least I have a family party this wknd so I can have fun & keep my mind off it all,at least fot 1 night x god bless my sister who's spent the whole day cooking gluten free, lactose free, low fructose foods for our party...she & my brother also can't digest food, have pain, fatigue & bowel trouble but doc thinks they're crazy & keeps prescribing stuff...she's 47,has had trouble for over 10yrs & no dr has ever said 'lets have a look'.
awareness campaigns are invaluable, but whats the point in saying to the public 'if you have these symptoms,go to a dr' if the doctor doesnt do his/her job?
