If Humira doesn't work, will Remicade?

I have been on Humira (and a bunch of other things) for a while and after having my second colonoscopy and small bowel follow thru in the last 5 months the doctors at first wanted to do a resection. Now they are saying they want to wait on the resection because they would have to take out too much and they are worried about the high probabilty of an immediate recurrence. So instead they want to take me off the Humira, which has done absolutely nothing except give me the worst headache after my injections and start me on Remicade. I have been on Pentasa, Entocort, 6mp, Prednisone and a few others with no improvement. I wound up in the hospital in March 2012 with pancreatitis from all the different meds they have had me on. I asked the doctor today will starting the Remicade reduce the necessity for surgery and he said no that it would just give us a little more time. What the heck does that mean? Is anyone on Remicade now (and it works) who was previously on Humira (and it didn't work)?

Me too. Just like Ethan-Remicade stopped working, and now I'm waiting for Humira to kick in. I've had only two doses, plus a shot of pred. C.diff infection seems to have been what got the party started 6 months ago.

Everyone's results are different, so hopefully Remicade will do the trick for you. I know it's sooo hard to be patient; it's frustrating to be the guinea pig.

:hug:Sending hugs to you and Ethan. We'll all get through this together.

Jillian ~ I was on Humira for almost a year and I got nothing from it except extreme panic attacks from the injections. I never felt any difference at all in my Crohn's. With Remicade, I could really feel it working. Around day 2 or 3 after an infusion I felt like I had a B12 shot or my batteries were recharged. I'm in remission now and still on the Remicade, my GI suggested we might try to go off of it in October (yr from my surgery) if I'm still in remission.

Everyone is different. Don't lose heart yet, just because one biologic doesn't work doesn't mean that they all will fail. Good luck!
