Hi guys!!!

So after almost 10 months I finally got my ileostomy reversed last thursday!! progress has being alright..

I want to ask you those that have gone through this a few questions to know if its normal...

How was the pain the week(s) after the reversal? I get a LOT of cramping because of gas,,, I get very gassy. Is this normal? It's the same pain as when I had a flare...Im kind of worried I might be having a flare instead since I stop taking my humira 6 weeks ago for this reversal/surgery.

What's your take?

thanks.

Yay for you! I had mine for 6 months. Don't worry Karma! Here is how my reversal went: Felt a lot of pain from surgery, but my guts felt fine directly after; but I had no BM's for about a week. My first BM was so painful, I thought I was rupturing and went to the ER! For a few months after my reversal, I was in and out of the ER, sometimes with really bad pain that felt almost worse than before my ostomy. I was really thinking that I had made a mistake getting the reversal, and the surgeon was thinking I would have to get another Stoma. BUT THEN...after all of that stopped (about two months later), I went into full remission! The ostomy did it's job and the reversal was a success!

I'm not telling you this to scare you. I just want you to be aware that it might get bad, but then it might get awesome. I have been doing great ever since October. Having a few symptoms now here or there, but I am able to live my life pretty normally. Good luck and congratulations! Please feel free to message me if you want more detail, or have any more questions. :)

Thanks Jer!! I will be going tomorrow to get a blood exam and if possible a stool exam to see if I had a mild infection...my gastro said sometimes this tends to happen after surgery...

are you on any immune supressants like Humira, remicade, etc?

Hi Karma

It is sooo glad to hear good news on here :)
I dont have answers for you but I am glad to hear you might be getting some soon.
Take care and hang in
Wendy

Congrats on the reversal! Next time you see your doctor about the gas issues, ask him/her to pull your finger to see if that helps... Nothing wrong with having fun with the problem.
