Hi all, I havent been on here in a little while. I'm back in hospital again, just had my ileostomy 'closed' on Wednesday. Has anyone else been through this surgery? Right now I am feeling a fair bit of pain at the sight and quite a bit of wind pain. I'm still on a liquid diet, but hoping to get upgraded to solids tomorrow. It's looking like I may get out of hospital on Monday. Hope you're all doing well :)

I am hoping my daughter can have her's reversed this summer. How did you find the surgery? What did they tell you the recovery time would be??

So far it hasn't been too bad. I had surgey 8 days ago, and now I have some incision pain (not taking any pain meds for it) trying to avoid lifting, and trying to rest a lot. After eating solids I've had a few bouts of diarrhoea (2 of them pretty bad!), but have since been sticking to a low fibre diet and my body seems to be doing ok with it. My surgeon said 4 weeks for bowels to get back to normal and to be feeling not so tired etc.

I just had mine 3 days ago.. No diet assigned until I can pass gas which seems to be building up. The surgery pain itself did not seem as bad as the ileostomy itself but I was in bad shape going into that one

2 months on and I am feeling great! No pain at all. Bowels back to normal. I am also eating foods I haven't eaten in years (beans, brocolli, onion etc) and having no troubles. I am hoping I stay feeling so great. I have also had an iron infusion to help with the tiredness. I have a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks to see how things are looking, fingers crossed!
