Hey Everyone,

I've been on this forum for a long time, but always floating around and not really posting much. I love hearing of people and the advice you build together, but it's been rather hard for me to really need to post, or questions I feel haven't already be answered.

This isn't so much of a question, more of a what to expect? This is my first surgery for Crohn's and I'm having my Terminal Ileum and sections either side removed, as I've been non-responsive or allergic to all medication they've had on cards to give me.

Any advice for beforehand, recovery, etc, would be grand!

I'm a little nervous.

My son had an ileocecectomy. It was a laparoscopic surgery. He was in hospital 4 days. It would've been shorter but his bladder has a reaction to anesthesia and pain meds. Surgery site wise and moving around went really well. He was walking the evening of day of surgery. He feels the movement was the best thing for his recovery.

He went home from the surgery on the fourth day with oral pain meds. I think he may have taken 2 halves at bed time after discharge from hospital.

His "tips" were walk as soon as possible to get bowels moving. When moved to soft foods eat slowly. Bring plenty of things to keep you occupied after surgery. And personally he preferred his own clothes pj pants and tshirts to the gowns because the gowns tangled up when trying to sleep.
