Hi my name is danny and I was diagnosed with crohns when I was 18 I had constant problems with pain, bleeding and diarrhoea with a side effect of malnutrition and weight loss. After 5 years some different meds I ended up being bed ridden for 3 months before I ended up being hospitalized where the put me on a heavy course prednisolone which got me back on my feet and then my GI doc put on Infliximab which changed everything.. I felt so much better but I've still had some minor problems since like mucus in my stools the odd twinge of pain in my abdomen and now 2 years on into my infusions severe joint pains. Ive recently started to address so diet issues which has help abit aswell.
I'm currently starting azathioprine on a dose of 50mg working my up to 125mg (fingers crossed this keeps me stable)
Well thats my story, I'm here and will answer any questions :)

Hello Danny and welcome to the forum :)

Were docs able to confirm what was causing the joint pain? Have you ever had any of your vitamin levels checked? We do have a sub forum for the Aza that is worth checking out to get further info about it: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=64. I have been on it myself twice and it did wonders for the tum but unfortunately caused issues elsewhere. We do also have a diet and sups forum that is worth checking out to get further info on this area as well.

Wishing you all the best.

Hey there danny and welcome to the community.

I'm glad the Infliximab worked so well for you. Am I understanding correctly that you are still taking the infliximab and are taking azathioprine on top of it as well?

Have you by chance had your vitamin B12, vitamin D, and magnesium levels tested? I ask because people with Crohn's disease are commonly deficient in those.

All my best to you :)
