Now that my surgery is done and over with, I will probably be starting Humira. I go to the GI on the 30th to discuss my options, but since Humira worked so well last time, there is no reason for me not to try it again. I can't inject in the stomach, which leaves the thigh. Does anyone else inject in their thigh? Does it hurt more than the stomach? Its been 3 years since I have been on meds, a little nervous.

Yea, I have always used the pens, what part of the thigh do you inject? I am definitely going to have to be retrained

I take Cimzia now and prefer the syringe over the pen. You have the option for either with Humira.

I injected in the fatty parts of the upper thigh.

It really depends on much I ice the area, some weeks I'll find the abdomen less painful and vice versa the following weeks. I leave the pen out for at least 30 minutes, which obviosuly would help. Just ice that shit and you'll be fine!!! :D

I am still unsure if that is what I am going on, my appointment is next week to discuss it, but thanks!

I just thought about it, I have a healing wound from surgery, I can't start anything until that is gone, right?

I thought your GI said you wouldn't start it until you were fully healed right?

Jen, originally he said that I could go on meds again 6 weeks after surgery, which is in about a week and a half. But I forget to tell him about the wound, for some reason it didn't cross my mind that would interfere with starting meds. I see him on Tuesday, we can at least still talk about what I am going to go on.

Have you decided on Humira though? Even though you can't start yet you should be on top of insurance for pre-authorization and to get the shipment. It can take a month of back and forth to get it. You want to have it for when you can begin.
