I haven't been diagnosed. Here's what happened. I have been having bad stomach attacks over the past two day with some blood. Today I was visiting a friend who was in the hospital when I got really bad stomach pains and all of a sudden I passed out cold. (good place to be when that happens) I have never passed out in my life. The nurses helped me and got me some juice and the doctor gave me a sheet of paper to do a stool sample and I was sent home. Im really scared something is wrong, I wasn't given any other tests. Im so worried. Have any of you ever passed out before? I have an appointment with a specialist on the 12th. I also don't think the passing out was due to emotional stress seeing my friend in the hospital, he's going to be fine and I am studying to work in a hospital so I'm used to being there.

That does sound a bit scary but you were in the right place. Who do you see on the 12th? GI Specialist? When you say blood is this from a bowel movement?

Maybe get some bloodwork to check things out including inflammation levels.

Feel better soon!! :rosette2:

Yeah I'm seeing the GI specialist and the blood was from a bm. I asked for blood work but non was taken. He thinks there is something going on inside my bowels. I just wish the doctor would have done a little more. I'm still left with a lot of questions and I think I would have been a little less freaked out if I at least had some blood work taken to rule out infection. I might be over reacting but it's a scary feeling when you pass out, Expecially when it's never happened before.
Thank you for the support, this form is truly amazing :)

I would also get your B12 & Iron levels checked. I go to the GI on aug 17. I hope you get more answers soon! Maybe go see your GP and get some bloodwork & a stool spear so you can get that test done before you see the GI.

I've had several periods of passing out. When I was 3 my mom told me I used to pass out a lot and had 3 different EKGs done(all came back normal) then in high school(also the same time I lost several pounds) I would black out monthly during 3rd period and be wheeled to the nurses office then sent home. The last time I passed out was while I was pregnant and in my first trimester. I passed out twice at work and was sent for an EKG and cholesterol check(I'm very skinny so a doctor was questioning why the other one was doing a cholesterol check) Each time I got an EKG it came back normal so they wrote it off as migrains(I'd get very lightheaded causing bad headaches when I'd come to) There's no family history of crohns and I had no other symptoms(at least nothing which really connected to crohns besides weight loss) so it was never tested.

Don't panic just yet though it could just be an infection which is why they asked for a stool sample and even if it is crohns it can be very difficult to diagnose since there are areas without the disease and areas of disease. Also varied colitis(inflammation of the colon) can have the same symptoms but be treated and depending on the case/cause can be cured. Being undiagnosed is the scariest part since you can't "read up" on your diagnosis but after you have a diagnosis treatment can begin and if it's crohns it can be controlled with medicine.

I wish you luck and hope for the best. Just try to keep calm as it can make your symptoms worse. Try not to think about what it could be and if it helps start a blog about your worries, test results ect. It helps to get it out and somewhat off your mind.

Thank you everyone. I have been dealing with intestinal issues for about 15 years, only this year has it got worse. The 12th can't come fast enough. I'm going to my family doctor on Monday. I will try not to worry too much. I look like I got into a fight and the floor won lol

I had a similar instance, although not sure if it was related to my Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed when I was 8, and am now 28.

If you care for the story, here's what happened. I was at my sister's grad school graduation, at a small reception. All of a sudden I got dizzy and lightheaded. I tried to make it to a chair but couldn't, and passed out, and was taken to the ER. The doctor there diagnosed it as just an isolated incident, and probably dehydration had to be a part of it. I didn't have my usual breakfast, and the graduation ceremony was at noon, and during a normal work week, I NEVER (and I do mean never) skip lunch.

That for me was scary, as that has never happened to me before.

Like you, I was at a good place when that happened, as it was the GW University School of Public Health that had their graduation, so there were lots of relatives of graduates who were doctors.

I hope everything turns out okay. Although like you said, I'm surprised the hospital didn't admit you when that happened. If it is Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis, feel free to come back to these forums, as lots of people here are very supportive.
