Anyone wanting to add further related studies, please feel free. This is not a chicken or the egg thing for me, but addressing Mitochondria damage (through diet changes, antioxidants, etc.) does lead to quality of life.

OMG! I was just diagnosed a few days ago with mitochondrial cytopathy.

I'm just reading the information my infectious disease MD gave me.

WOW!! and on top of this, I have MTHFR (genetic mutation) A1298C single heterozygous mutation, am a stroke survivor, have migraines, and Crohn's.

Lucky lucky me. :)

Thank you so much for this. I tried to do some research on the web but got so overwhelmed I decided to wait until I saw my PA who is well versed in this disorder.

I wonder how many more IBD patients have this mitrochandrial cytopathy.

GutlessWonder86, that sounds awful. I think your question is worth exploring, I just wanted to show a connection with mitochondria in general. Though I can't say impairment and cytopathy are the same, I would imagine one would follow the other. You might investigate ingesting tea leaves, Green, White, Black, and eating red grapes. Good luck.

can't do green tea. I'm on a blood thinner for the rest of my life. I have to watch what I eat. Can't do grapes either.

The PA has me on OTC enzymes, vitamin C, E, and Co something 10.
