i had surgery earlier this year and had 90cm of small intestine removed. since then i have suffered diarrhoea which has been steadily improving with time. I started 50mg Imuran a fortnight ago - just as a preventative - things were fine for the first six or seven days. then i had a bout of diarrhoea and thought nothing of it and took loperimide to control it. however it hasnt ceased i dont sleep at night as i am constantly to the toilet and back. i am also having major gas which i havnt had in months. there is no pain to speak of just a very active system. it seems like i am back to about week 4 after my operation at present. my bloods were fine after week 1 on 50mg but since being in contact with gi this problem has arisen. i wonder if the imuran is causing it?? or a flareup?? but i have no pain at all just damn diarrhoea. i realise i may have ongoing probs like this because of my shortened bowel but this is a sudden change and only since starting imuran. im on 100mg imuran at present. i will be ringing my gi nurse in the morning.
