Hey guys,

Ive been on Imuran for like over a year, ive had to go on prednisone at least 4x for 6 weeks at a time so basically i figure my Imuran isnt working. I am in school got 3 weeks left then 6 weeks of placement and it makes it impossible for me to get in to see my specialist went to health clinic 2day and got an xray done as they suspected the start of an obstruction. Should I try to throw down some more prednisone or skip a few days of class and try to arrange an appointment with my specialist?

thanks for your helps

It sounds like the imuran isn't working. I would talk to your professors and let them know you may need to miss some classes... you'd be surprised if people know you have a serious health condition they can be more than accomodating, but if you don't tell them they may think you are just skipping out. Make arrangements to get notes from someone and proactively tell your profs how you are going to handle being out those days. Really the only solution for you sounds like going back to your specialist since you are already on Imuran and it isn't helping...

Best of luck and let us know what you find out!

I know it is not always the answer but are you doing all you can on your end? Skipping the pubs, eating lower fiber, reduced fat diet, and drinking lots of fluids? I'm on the same drug and I know if I start to loosen up on the rules I begin to feel like crap too. You got to take care of yourself because no medication is ever going to do it all for us. Hope you get feeling better one way or the other anyway.

havent touched alcohol in 4 years, drink tons of water, tried to increased my fiber b/c i was extremely constipated (gonna back off now 2 see what happens), also on some supplements (vital HN ) which dont require me to break down the nutrients they taste terrible but go straight to my cells and dont require being broken down - i basically stick to rice and chicken, turkey etc.....seems like u can try to do everything right and still get flared -i just finished a cycle of prednisone so hopefully im just adjusting to that.

In reference to being constipated...the paperwork the dietician gave me on low residue/low fiber diet said to limit dairy intake to 2 cups a day because that can constipate you too with such a lack of fiber in the diet. Just something to keep in mind. :)
