Hi all,

I'm new to the boards. I've posted my first message about 2 weeks ago.

The abdominal pain is very severe since yesterday, but it gets more terrible.

I did a lab test and the result came back that I have problems with the thyroid gland so as the GP told me.

I have to wait unti the intrnal specialist come back from vacation prior to receive medication to help the thyroid gland. I need to wait 2 more weeks for the appointment.

Is it possible that Crohn's disease can trigger Thyroid disease?

It seems that the Thyroid gland is underactive. It is hypothyroidism so as the GP told me.

I need to wait until the 27th to hear more and to know what to do.

Do you have any info about Hypothyroidism?

Thank you so much.

Hi Margie,

I don't have thyroid problems officially, but my doctor keeps checking my levels because of all the symptoms. I am sorry you are going through this. I may be wrong but can't hypothyroidism be kept in check with fairly simple meds? I guess that is the upside to it.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

ironically, vitamin d is suspected to be involved in not only crohn's disease but thyroid disease as well.

get your vitamin d3 levels checked or take a supplement.

Hi Margie,

I have hypothyroidism too.

This is an extremely common condition which I am told has no direct association with IBD, many people have undiagniosed thyroid issues and its only if left untreated that it could cause problems. Its good that its been determined and can now be treated.

In fact, it's very easyily treated so don't stress yourself over this, hypothyroidism if treated is really a non-issue,

Take care

G

I had hyperthyrodism when i was in highschool. For some reason I got all the hypo side effects though. After about 3 yrs on meds it corrected itself.

Thank you very much for all the responses received.

I'm waiting for the appointment with the doc 27th of Dec.

What is really awful the last few days is severe muscle and joint pain.

It is terrible specially in the evening. I can hardly walk, because of the pain.

I've an heart condition too, that's why I was a bit worried about the hypothyroid disease.

Hi Margie,

Joint pain can be part of Crohn's as well. May want to have a Rhuemy look at you.
