Heya everyone,

havent posted on here for quite a while, but just wanted to share my experiences lol.

Been in hospital with chest pain, coughing up blood and shortness of breath and guess what.

Got a pulmonary embryosis (blood clot) in my right lung.....oh joy

Got discharged friday night and back in A&E Monday night, had trouble breathing big time.

So now I am on

Prednisolone,
Mercaptopurine,
Warfarin
and was on tinzaparin anticoagulant shots in my stomach...lovely

Well just wanted a quick moan and see whether anyone else has had this, is it due to the crohn's maybe??

All the best and take care

Aaron

hi,

I had one but this was about 8 years ago, i was pregnant with my son(5months) was addmitted to maternity with chest pain and flu like symptoms, but rushed by ambulance to hospital with v.rapid heartbeat, was v.sick put on heprin injections in the belly, ouch!! but thank god everything was ok, thought i was going to loose baby and ready to be operated on but thankfully every thing subsided very quickly with medication, and my miracle baby was born healthy at 8months, he is 8yrs now and im doing well except waiting on results for crohns, but to this day i have a heart murmer as a result, its a small one so not too bad, keep the chin up, I know its scary but you can get through this,

sheila:lol:

Hiya Sheila,

Sounds like you got very lucky especially being pregnant, it was really weird, i was in a lot of pain But... felt ok if you get what i mean. With the crohn's i normally feel ill, groggy and well just ill lol, but this time i had energy but was just in pain and when the blood started being coughed up it was like ok time to worry lol.

Thanks for sharing your experience, wish it could have been a good one

All the best

Hey Aaron,

Sorry to hear you have really been through the mill with the Pulmonary Embolism. They are nasty and you must have been in alot of pain with that never mind the hard work breathing. Not a good feeling at all!!

I have talked from time to time to some of the consultants I work with (cardiac and lung = cardiothoracic hospital) and they have told me that crohns and lung problems go hand in hand unfortunately.

I have unstable asthma and they reckon for me that when my guts are inflammed it triggers inflammation in my chest and so my asthma deteriorates...

From what I gather it is possible to have other lung conditions too (including clotting issues anywhere in the body because we tend to have problems absorbing our vits like vit K that is involved in clotting or we knock something else out of balance due to poor absorption and it swings the other way) so you definately are not on your own with this one ok?

Keep following the regime to prevent further clots occuring and if you go on any long journeys make sure you stop regularly and have a walk about to prevent everything being scrunched up and enouraging further clots. They will probably keep you on warfarin for a while so make sure you are monitored!

Hope you are on the upturn now.. ((hugs))

i had a blood clot on my left lung august last year and was on warafin for 6 months, be careful on warefin though as it a blood thinner , so if you cut yourself you will bleed for alot longer than usual.

soupdragon, thanks for your comments, they are very helpful.

It seems with crohn's you learn something new (or gain a new illness) everyday lol. There was me thinking someone had a voodoo doll with me in mind!!

Merrywidow, thanks for the warning, ive just come back from the anti coagulation clinic and had my irn tested, and just had to watch a long (boring) video all on warfarin.

I wonder if its available on amazon. lol

All the best
