in remission.. am I eating healthily?!

I've been in remission since Easter, after a diet of Modulen and then a no wheat, diary, fruit and veg diet (it was basicly just chicken and rice or plain potatoes) I have been slowly intorducing things.
I'm scared to now introduce some of these things back into my diet just incase they make me ill again.

Although I'm out of hospital and not ill right now, how healthy is it?! My Gastro guy tells me the '5 a day' rule is a lie and soemthing the farmers made up to make more money, but surely I must need something?!
And after losing lots of weight - now I'm eating again it's coming back on... but when you've been starved for ages and can finally eat again it's all I wanna do.. how can I mainatin my weight loss when I can't eat a salad or most fruit and veg?!
I still get pretty tiered and try to do walking and light exercise...

What does everyone else do?!

Hi there,

I am not unfortunately in remission, but should go onto AZA next week. Right now my diet is as follows:

Breakfast: Carton of Alpro Soya Chocolate Milk

Lunch: Carton of Alpro Soya Chocolate Milk

Afternoon Snack: Carton of Alpro Soya Chocolate Milk

(I refuse to eat before I get home from work - I can't risk mishaps).

Dinner: Smash and a piece of grilled fish, or steamed white rice and a piece of grilled fish.

Thats it....

I asked my consultant about it, and he said everyone with Crohn's is different and I just have to find my own way. I cant imagine EVER eating vegetables again right now.

I'm on steroids at the moment so I am a hearty size 14, which I am slightly narked about, as I feel that the hideousnous of being parked on the toilet all the time, eating virtually nothing, having constant tummy ache, feeling like poo (scuse the pun) and suffering from steroid rage should have the silver lining of looking svelte....

I think five a day is great for digestive health....unless you have Crohn's... personally I have no intention of eating anything that even hints at giving you wind. My farts are already taking an unwelcome detour through a fistula - I reckon if I ate vegetables I'd start trumping out of my ears!

I do take lots of vitamins though - especially B12...loads of B12! And I exercise - I'm on the judo mat every week - even if I am in pain or feel like crap I shift my butt out there - I definitely feel better for being more active.
