Hi fellow Crohn's Members...
I am currently in the hospital as a result of repeated and uncontrollable diarrhea, mucus, and blood. Immediately after eating, cramping followed by diarrhea occurs even on the max does of Lomotil (8 tablets per day) and 40mg Nortriptyline. Still having pain after each meal. A colonoscopy was performed yesterday and the only identifiable inflammation was proctitis in the colon, still waiting on biopsies from throughout the colon to rule out non-visible inflammation elsewhere. Attending doctor and fellow do not seem to think biopsies will show additional inflammation. Have me on 40mg steroid taper and Canasa suppositories. Preparing to send me home today.
Prior visit to the same hospital in Fall 2012, sigmoidoscopy showed inflammation in the sigmoid colon with thickening in the folds of the colon shown on the MR Enetrography. At that time a different Attending and Fellow gave the diagnosis of Crohn's based on the the thickening of the folds they saw in the sigmoid colon. Went from steroid taper to Uceris maintenance dose at that time.
This is made more difficult that the IBD specialist who has been my doctor since April 2011 recently moved to a different state and clinic. Anyone have similar experience or any questions I should specifically ask the current attending and fellow?
Thanks!
