I had my surgery 2 weeks and a day ago. Is it normal for the incision to still be oozing??? My surgoen took off the steri-strips last Thursday. I keep looking at it and it's making nervous. The incision is at my belly button. There is a big scab - but above it - no scab has formed yet and when I push down on the scab, I can see more oooz.

Thoughts? Is this normal? :confused2:

I had fistula surgery and it was outpatient - not as major as yours, but it was a big long wound and it oozed for at least 2 weeks, more like 3 or more if I remember right. I think they call it draining. If it's pussy though, I would call the doc. (Is pussy a word? Puss-ish?)

And don't poke at it!! Haha - as tempting as it is. Do you have anything else covering it? I had gauze for weeks.

It's definitely not puss-like. It's moe like a brownish..sort of..light brown..

Well, draining makes sense. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. I don't have anything covering it. He took off everything.

It's totally tempting to pick at it...that I have not done...but obsessing about it...yes.

No, it's not red at all. Just a little oozy. Guess it's to be expected from a major surgery even if it was laparoscopic.

Have you asked about antibiotic ointment to put on it??
Maybe that could help to keep an infectin at bay.
I have used it for all three of my c-sections with great results.

it isnt hurting any worse right?
i think a little oozing would be expected. but if it hurts more than before then call!

and you can always just call your surgeon to ask the question. it never hurts to ask!
