I am going on holiday in a few weeks. Last time I went abroad was 2 1/2 years ago, and I ended up getting traveller's diarrhoea. I did end up having an accident and a few near misses:blush:- and I didn't even have CD back then! The plane journey home was a nightmare, as the plane took off my stomach swelled up and I spent most of the flight in the bathroom, when I wasn't in the bathroom I was desperately clenching trying not to let anything slip so to speak.

I would feel a lot more confident knowing that I had some pads to use if I got a bug again, especially now I have cd, I guess any bug is going to hit me harder. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what pads to get? I don't think sanitary towels would be enough, as I tend to get completely liquid stool.

Also any other tips for travelling? I already have a pile of Pred to take with me in case I have another flare.

Thanks, Rebecca.

I'm not sure how "big" you want to go for want of a better word.

There are products on the market that are essentially the same as pull ups that children use. In other words a pad that is pants and pad all in one. If you google Molicare mobile you will see what I mean.

Is this the sort of thing you were thinking about?

Wasn't what I had in mind (was thinking of something like a large sanitary pad). But if they are designed for this sort of thing then that is good! I found a site that does samples so might get a couple and see how I feel.

Try before you buy is an excellent idea!

I think the only issue when going to larger sanitary pads is they can become uncomfortable, particularly when you need to position them more towards the back, and at times difficult to keep in place.

I have no doubt you'll find something that suits you and you are happy with. Good luck with your search!

Take care,
Dusty

I have had to wear a kid's diaper in my pants just to go to the grocery store before. It's not as big and bulky as an adult sized diaper, but it gives more coverage than a menstrual pad.
Hope your trip goes well for you. Enjoy!

best thing I can advise is to visit a Bupa care home and ask where they purchase theirs, my mum was doubly incontinent and the ones they use are fantastic, no leaks, no odour.
enjoy your hols, where are you going? can I fit in your suitcase?

Kotex extra thin long are my ticket.

But not sure if they are enough for super watery stools.

Hope you can enjoy your holiday!

we have a shop that sells lots of older/disalbed products and they sell adult nappies. they also sell the bed pads, in case of accidents. i will try and find a link for you.

ive crapped my pants 83259028358907238940283 times. but for me i rarely had diharrea so i never really had quite the same dilemma, just a few period pads were ok most of the time.

regardless of the solution you find, my saving grace many times was a sweatshirt or jacket to be tied around the waist. even if its deadly hot out, tie it to your purse, whatever. have one with you and if something happens and you cant change your pants right away, then at least youve got some coverage.
oh and black pants or dark jeans is also a plus lol

good luck i hope you find something that works and can enjoy rather than worrying about it!

Thanks for the links and ideas. I don't really want to get the nappy type, as it might be difficult to go to the toilet, so I think I am going to go for pull up type. I have found a shop near me, so will head down when I have the time and see if they have anything suitable, if not I will have to order off the internet. Will definately take a jacket with me!

By the way kello is that an estimate or have you counted?

P.s. I just saw something that said not to take Immodium. Is there an over the counter diarrhoea remedy i can take or do I need to get a prescription?
