I thought that I would start a different thread from the "starting Infliximab" one that I already have running.
As you are aware, Josh started Infliximab yesterday which went well. Due to him have two indeterminate blood tests beforehand for TB he now has to take Isoniazid and Pyridoxine along side these. Chest x ray is clear.

Does anyone know anything about these two drugs? The Isoniazid seems to be a fairly powerful drug with a lot of side effects. The Pyridoxine is taken to help counter these side effects. Also due to taking these there are a few food groups that need to be avoided.

As well as the medication he is already on, now the Infliximab as well, and now these I am very worried about how he is going to cope with these and the possible liver damage this could end up causing.

We have been told that as long as he is on Infiximab then he will have to take these drugs. We weren't given any information about the side effects from the doctor at all, apart from extra blood tests [ didn't actually see one yesterday ]. Feel like we are stuck between a rock and a hard place with this as he needs to be on Infiximab.

I would be interested to know if anyone has a child who has been on these and how they coped with it.

These drugs are for the indeterminate TB? Why would they start such strong meds if they don't know for sure?

I am told it is "just in case" as by having the Infliximab it can cause the TB to become active.

Sorry no experience with the TB meds but plenty of experience with worry over the liver. My family has a history of liver issues so I watch the meds with my girls like a hawk. When I was researching methotrexate and the liver I found a reference that said when used with a biologic the biologic oddly provided some liver protection. A little consolation at least.
