Hi everyone-

I was wondering what type of injection site reactions people have and whether they were told to stop the medication or not. I had no reaction on the first loading dose but on the second dose (2 shots) I developed a welt roughly 14 hours after the injection. It was very sore and red. Are there any thought as to how to prevent this? I already take a Benadryl before the injection. I just hope that it doesn't get worse with each injection. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had site reactions. I would get a hive where I injected it. It looked like a blister and it was CRAZY itchy (gaahh...so annoying) and sore. When you have reactions you should always contact your doctor.

I believe some site reaction was a normal side affect (someone correct me if I'm wrong!). How big was the welt and how long did it take to "go down" or dissipate? It wouldn't worry too much, but I would recommend checking out the drug information, from either the Humira website or the sheet of uses/side effects that came with the prescription from the pharmacy.

I also believe you should have received a "Humira Hotline number" to contact if you have questions. I don't know where you live, but I got one where I live (Canada).

Always contact a Doctor or Humira nurse is you have a reaction. You see a see a red spot that is sore, but more could be going on. Even though this is consider a minor side effect, someone needs to check it out. I get slight pain and some soreness occasionally and in my situation it was nothing more then the injection, nothing to do with the actually medicine.

Steph, when I was on Humira I received a DVD with the kit, showing clearly how to inject.
Once the area is cleansed, and pen primed, insert at right angle to the body, DO NOT RUB.
Worked well for me, no welts or inflammation.
