Hello all. Just stopping by to introduce myself. I'm 43 and was dx'd with Crohn's of the illeum about two years ago. My disease is considered "moderate." I'm fortunate that I've never had to be hospitalized and my flares last less than a week. I was in the ER several times prior to diagnosis and after but have finally learned to manage my diet and haven't been in the ER in quite awhile

My drug regimen is Pentasa daily, Zofran and Tylenol as needed. In the ER I get dilaudid and Zofran via IV. I have some dilaudid at home but it does nothing besides gets me a little high. Need to talk to my doc about that.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

Welcome! I'm new here myself, as of Tuesday, maybe?

I've got it right at the end. Sigh. But it's pretty much under control.

Cheers,
Sandy

Hi partlycloudy,
Welcome to the forums.
Interesting that you have been able to manage your diet, does your diet affect your flare ups, if so, can you share how you do that?

Cheers

Hey there welcome to the forums and glad all is looking better now. Thata great you found a diet that works. My diet still changes 3 years later haha. Best of luck with it.

Hello and welcome! Please dont be a stranger, this is one of the best places to meet people, share experiences and learn about this lovely disease.

Thank you all. I've been lurking and posting a bit and got a huge, eye-tearing, couldn't-even-breath laugh over the "You Know You Have Crohn's" thread last night.

Peter, until I began visiting here I assumed all CD flares were caused by diet like mine. So, the answer is yes, diet is the main culprit as far as I can tell. Anyway, veggies and/or fiber things flare me. I can eat anything...even veggies or fiber...once but then have to stop. If I eat it two days in a row I'm in agony for a week.

I've also learned to STOP eating EVERYTHING when I feel that certain type of pain that precedes a flare. That gives my intestines time to rest. At least that's my theory and works so far. :D

We all know this disease has a mind of its own.

I love the "you know you have Crohn's when" thread! Just curious have they done a repeat colonscopy on you to see if any damage from inflammation is going on?

I wish you the best of luck! If I can help in anyway please feel free to ask on here or PM me.
