Has anyone needed to have an iron infusion because iron pills were not increasing my levels. I am also on remicade and I take a liquid multivitamin. I have inflamation all throughout my intestines (both) and granulomas in espophogus. I drink tons of water but am rarely hungry but have pain when I am hungry and pain when I eat. The big d is not my problem its being nausseated every day and vomiting. Anyone out there that had iron infusion help with energy level? :stinks:

Yes, got one yesterday actually. Can easily say it helps, but it takes a couple infusions before you fell the difference, the body needs to adapt. Its not a miracle drug like Pred, but it has really helped me feeling less "down".

Thanks

Nisso, Thanks for letting me know that it will take while before your iron infusions because I think it's the same with my b12 shots. I was so low it took over 6 shots before I noticed a bit more of a pik me up. Not a miracle shot and I have never been on pred although it ssems to work for everyone. How often do you have your infusions and do you know if your body is absorbing vitamins? I started taking liquid vitamins, can't hurt right? Thanks again hope to hear from you again.:thumright:

I had an iron infusion in April, and I think I noticed a bit of a difference after it, but I think that's because my iron levels weren't too low to begin with. The biggest difference I noticed was that my colour improved; I was far less pale in the weeks after my infusion than I had been.

Hi there,

I had Iron ifusion before along with B12 for like 2 months (once a week).

My iron level was really low & below the acceptable ratio, so i had to raise it up only through infusion because IRON-PILLS is not recommended for CD patient. it might cause a flare-up.

this is a MUST treatment, and your should check your blood once every month to keep it at certain level.

Best wishes.

My hemoglobin drops extremely low, I have been as low as 5.7 and right now I am 7.3 so I have to get 6-8 weeks of Venifir, Iron infusions, I get them yearly and they help, I've never had a side effect and they make me feel wonderful after being so low for so long. Hope this helps a bit, Shannon
