The thought of a possible perforated bowel caused by the worm therapy is what kept me from trying it. Although when I was first offered worm therapy I was a teenager and the thought of having worms and having to explain that I had worms to people just turned me off completely. :p I'm 30 now though so its not as gross to me now as it was back then but its still in the study stage (was over 10 years ago too) and the possibility of the worms becoming adults and possibly perforating your bowels is still keeping me from trying it. Click on the forum wiki link on TSO to read more about it.

I had to have surgery too for the same reason as you (narrowing/stricture putting me in danger of an obstruction). I've been in remission ever since (been 13 years so far). I hope you do just as well with the surgery as I have and hopefully better. :)

Personally after reading up on the TSO, I myself would not attempt it. I mean it says it is not even known if it is deemed safe to do. It is purely experimental at this stage. I also do not like the idea where they say you have to ingest these every two weeks. Umm, that is going to leave you with a gut full of parasites. Your body is going to react to having a parasitic infection. In the end, it is all up to you. But I think I would want more evidence of how well this works and see exactly what that statistics show, How many people have done this and what were the outcomes? I would want to make sure. I mean if you do not tolerate it, then you will have to be out on heavy doses of anti-parasitics to get rid of the worms and that alone is hard on the GI tract...
