I am new to the forum and to having Crohns, so if this is a silly question, I apologize. But is daily abdominal pain to be expected? To be honest, I have had little pain until this point. My main symptom was passing mucus (with and apart from a bowel movement) which my doctors believed was coming from a few small ulcers in my rectum (I have some in my ileum, as well, but they think the mucus was coming from the lower ulcers). But the mucus has stopped, and for two weeks I was like my old self. But now the pain has started up. It’s not horrible, and I am able to function. Some days are better than others, though, and the pain circulates. Sometimes it is on the left side, right side, or just all over. I haven’t contacted the doctor, because I assume it is something I need to deal with. Am I right, or am I causing damage to myself by ignoring it?

If you're having pain, then you need to contact your doctor. It might be a full flare. It might even be your medication causing it. I remember having a nasty reaction to asacol, which is similar to lialda.

As a rule, if your symptoms (negatively) change, you should contact your doc.

Welcome to the forums by the way :)

Hi Jill and welcome.

I agree with the others - call the doc! Any pain is always cause for concern, especially if you are on a new med.

Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon! - Amy

Thanks for all the responses. I bit the bullet and contacted my GI. I am waiting for her to get back to me. I guess I didn't want to call, because I am sure she'll want to run more tests and discuss medication changes. I am sick of testing (it's eating up all of my vacation time!) and I really don't want to change medication because I have seen some real improvement overall.

My doctor called me back last night, and she wants me to do an MRE of the small intestine. Has anyone done this test before? What am I to expect? What exactly is she looking to find (I know I should have asked her, but it didn't come to mind until we hung up)? She said I'll have to drink something beforehand...ugh. I have a weak tummy...
