is fatigue a symptom of crohns? trouble at work

hi everyone im new to the site so go easy haha

got diagnosed in 09 and work have been fine with me etc.. but within the last 18 month we have changed our ways how we work and have been set daily targets which i currently struggle to hit and recently got pulled in the office and asked what was up an basically it cant go on anymore that they have to do something about it.

i came home and had a think about this and im only 26 i feel quite outgoing and play football 2 times a week but getting up at half 6 am and working i am struggling with and wanted some advice if other people feel fatigued and mentally drained because at the end of the day i have bills to pay and wont find another job with the money im getting but i didnt want to deal the crohns card on my work but i feel so drained at times.

sorry to blab on kind regards graeme.

Staff1986,

Don't look at it as "playing a card"...Crohn's disease is a real condition. Let your employer know. You could explain you have been recently diagnosed and your GI is experimenting with different drug regimens, but once you find works for you "your production will increase." I am not familar with laws in the UK, but I'm sure there must be some provisions for employees with a chronic condition. Call human resources dept. and inquire what paperwork they need to have it on record that you have been DXed.
I am not a lawyer-this is just my opinion- do a little soul searching (depending on how your company is structured), your employer may be motivated to find reason to remove you.
Good luck. Keep ontop of your meds. Crohns can be draining, but you can't let "it" beat you.

Hello :)
I'm new too!
I am newly diagnosed and the fatigue I suffered prior to diagnosis and still now is terrible.
It is definitely a symptom! I have had to make alterations to my University Placements because I was too tired to even contemplate going to Uni.
I hope you get sorted, and I would tell your work about Crohns as it's not something to be ashamed of. It's something you have that they need to acknowledge it could make you ill if you are pushing yourself too much. I hope you get sorted!

What about trying to get to bed earlier? Since you play sports a few time a week, you sound like you are fit enough to exercise. So, it may be that you need to get to bed a little earlier and get good rest. It may be a little depression not letting you get up, if you are still having trouble getting up early. You can do it!

Absolutely!
Some moments my daughter is skipping down the sidewalk...and others I need to push her in a stroller.
Fatigue is a very real SE of Crohn's...don't let your work bully you! :)

Fatique is an issue for most of us at some point with crohns. I suggest the next time you have your bloods done you have them check your B12, Iron and vitamin D levels. You may be running close to anemic, which will certainly affect your day to day life with fatigue. No matter how good your physical condition is!

If they arent low, great! Even if they aren't low, fatigue can hit us like a brick on some days, or even most days. Seems no rhyme or reason, just part of what ails us!

Welcome!
