is Humira a long term maintenance drug? i've heard mixed

So i had been on humira until my hemicolectomy 8 months ago and have tried to remain medicine free since the surgery. But now i'm anemica and iron saturationw way low. and yes i have D and by the way - its foamy that's weird right? sorry that's gross - is it time to admit defeat and go back on a drug? And if so, should i go back on humira or similar? One doc told me that is not the kind of drug you want to be on long term, but i don't know if that is true. Can I stick it out further without meds?

Sounds like you should be back on Humira.

Humira is a long term maintenance med.

Whether you want to leave your Crohn's uncontrolled is up to you. However given you've already had one lot of surgery I'd think it a rather 'brave' decision to remain med free.

Edited to make it clearer.

I'm with Beth! I don't think any medicine is the kind one wants to be on long-term, but I don't think you want to continue to have crohn's flares and need surgery long-term either.

Was that doc a GI? What did he suggest you do long term?
