Hi all this is my first time posting. I recently had to go to the er for some pain relief . I have Crohns. Anyway they actually gave me a print out of my blood work results and it says I have a high white blood count and a high platelet count. The er doc said this is from the 50mg of Imuran I take daily - is this true and would it explain why I have been so tired lately ?

hi Catherine that was also my understanding - I'm not sure why my white cell count is high unless I have some sort of infection or maybe my dose of aza is to low. only on 50 mg . I see some people here are on a much higher dose. I should mention I've only been on it for about 3.5 months.

I have a very low platelet count (56) which my consultants think is caused by long term use Imuran. I believe that high white cell and platelet counts can be indicators that your body is fighting off an increased level of infection. I don't know how that would be liked to tiredness.

High inflammation (white blood count) is a huge link to fatigue! Your body is constantly fighting an "infection" it's working overdrive so it's no surprise.

I don't understand if this would be the aza or not I assumed the opposite results would be aza but I'm no expert with this!

Thankfully I have a doctors appointment on Thursday and I will be able to speak with my doctor about my bloodwork which also says I have high RDW - I think that has something to do with B12. I see from many posts that lots of you get B12 injections. I don't know if that is something I need or not. Sorry my appointment is on Tuesday I can't seems to keep the days straight :ybatty: I will let you kno w what he has to say. Thank you all
