Hey everybody. i am at a loss here. i can't take remicade or humira. i barely tolerate prednisone (tachycardia, pychotic episodes). however, it is the only thing keeping me from small bowel and excruciating pain right now.

i started Imuran exactly 2 months ago, but it hasn't kicked in and i am still flaring badly. i am taking vicodin almost everyday for pain. i have hard areas in my belly that come and go, and my rt hip hurts like a mother!

my question is -

is it worth trying imuran again if it didn't work for me in the past?????

Sorry you are still going through so muchpain. It sounds like you are in the Moderate to Severe stages, and I have done the imuran, 6mp because alot of doctors try to get us on in,I have tried numerous times and all times did not work and it affected my liver fast.

Not sure but maybe methotrexate could be worth a try but takes like 16 weeks to work, injections are supposed to be better than the pills. You should not be suffering like this , painkillers are going to affect your liver too.

Has there been any talk of surgery? You can't live on Pred either, I am on it too but tapering fast and it is coming back too.

Where is your pain located? Are you bleeding? When is your next Gi appt and if you dont have oneI would call their office and get one. Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get you some kind of relief! :hang:

I would say give it a try. It takes at least three months to start working though so be patient and keep up with your blood work.
