Hi there all. I am new to this forum and just happened to come across it as I was doing some research online. I would love if I could get a little insight from people who I'm sure know how I feel.
So here's my long crazy story...i am 26 and was "diagnosed" with IBS almost 11 years ago. Within the last few years I have had test after test for chronic abdominal pain and they keep just saying IBS..I have seen 3 different GI doctors and to no avail...so here's what brings me to this point.
December of 2011 I had a colonoscopy. Of course I was told it was normal but after reading the report,I'm a little unsure. It said I had inflammation in the terminal ilieum but it appeared non specific(whatever that means)..Biopsies were taken and appeared normal. I had this colonoscopy after having a month straight of diarrhea and moderate abdominal pain. So after my "normal" colonoscopy I kinda gave up on doctors. I was prescribed Bentyl to help with my "IBS" which it didn't.
Now recently(starting 1-21-12) I have been having severe rlq pain, diarrhea, neasua, vomiting and loss of appetite. On 1-22-12 I went to the ER convinced it was my appendix. I couldn't seem to get comfortable and no position made it feel better. I didn't get any relief with a BM or passing gas. I was given a CT and told..Its just your IBS go home and call your GI doc..CT was normal although once again I finally read the report and saw that it said "small amount of free fluid in cul-de-sac"(relevant???Idk). So anyway the pain continued to get worse along with all the other symptoms..Now things are also a little more complicated as I am 8 weeks pregnant..So I went to see my OB. He ruled out any OBGYN issues and sent me to my GP. He told me,"I don't know how to help you. You've had a great workup and we found nothing". I left there crying(jerk). I called my GI and she wouldn't even see me in her office!!!! Got the same thing..its your IBS watch what you eat and it will settle.:ymad: So after all that, I decided to go for a 2nd opinion. I gathered all my records and off to a new GI(that was yesterday). After looking through everything and preesing on my abdomen,he looked at me and said.."I see thousands of patients a year. And I maybe say this to 2 of them..I don't know what to tell you. I don't think it's IBS but I don't know where to go from here" Although the honesty was refreshing...I left there with no answers and still in the same amount of pain. He did tell me that looking at my records(and having the imflammation in my ilieum was indicative of Crohn's) he said he was unsure since the biopsies were normal. I'm still in horrible pain and worried that if it is untreated I may lose my baby. Can anyone tell me where to go from here or if you think its possible to be Crohn's? I don't know what to do and I get more frustrated by the day.. Please help!!!:frown:

I've also lost about 7 pounds since this "flare" started 12 days ago..

Non specific inflammation means it doesn't look like anything in particular has caused it. It may be a result of diarrhoea (rather than a cause of it). Free fluid in the cul-de-sac is (according To Google) associated with gynaecological problems like ovarian cysts or endometriosis. I know you said your OB ruled out gynaecological problems, but maybe your pregnancy has 'hidden' anything along those lines?

Now, I don't want to scare you, but your most recent symptoms and the fact that you are a few weeks pregnant could mean that you are having an ectopic pregnancy. When you went to the ER did they know that you are pregnant, and did they look for the baby on the scan? Did your OB check for an ectopic pregnany?

Like I said, I don't mean to worry you, just that it's something that really ought to be ruled out.

Yes I had an ultrasound at the ER...the pregnancy is normal and they even saw the heartbeat..I've had issues with ovarian cysts in the past and this is not the same pain. It's to high and not in the right spot to be associated with my ovaries...And I might as well add that a few hours ago I had complete water stool that was black. I know this can be a sign of intestinal bleeding but I'm a little leery on going back to the ER just to be sent home again with no answers..

I would grab a sample of your stool and present that to them!

Have they tested your stool to rule out anything infectious, or a parasite etc?
