Is it important that your records are correct?

I ask this because I got the follow up letter from my doctor about my colonoscopy that I had a couple of weeks ago. He said that I will probably continue to have frequent and watery stools due to the amount of scar tissue in my colon. Well, that is all fine and dandy - except those are Not My Symptoms!

The follow up colonoscopy was done because I continue to have symptoms of the stricture. I can't go for days on end, unless I take Miralax every day. Often times my stools will get hard from sitting in there so long, but most of the time they are just fine. They just won't pass through that certain spot. It is frustrating, uncomfortable and worrisome. A little diarrhea now and then wouldn't worry me a bit. Hearing an audible "pop" when things finally start to move is kind of worrisome!

I am tempted to copy the letter, circle that part, and send it back with a note reminding the doctor that I don't have those symptoms at all. Is that rude??

My other GI tended to do that, too. I have Crohn's, they ask how many stools a day and I say often none. Then I will have several formed stools after I take a laxative, and then again I don't go for days. My stools are often thin like a pencil, or there will be a big blob where you can tell it has log jammed. What they hear is - several.

At the actual procedure, he mentioned that the scar tissue may be on the outside of the colon and wouldn't allow the colon to stretch there. That isn't the same thing as a stricture, but it wouldn't take much to make things not work correctly - his words, not mine. But, now there is no mention of that.

On the upside, he said the Humira has worked miracles for me!! Yay!! All that is left basically is the scar tissue. He didn't mention what the path report said, but it must have been okay. I also have psuedo diverticuli that show how extensive the disease has been in the past. I can get the exact working if anyone wants to read it, but that is basically what he said.

Would you set ther record straight if it was your scopy?:shifty-t: I wouldn't want him to have my symptoms mixed up. It might effect how things go in the future.

I would definately attempt to have the record put straight! Apart from anything else, if you were to have a flare and start having diarrhoea, you don't want it dismissing as 'normal for you'.

I would definately set the record straight. The only way they can see and difference good or bad is by looking at your past notes (and whos to say that your doctor wont change, so they will have to rely on the notes). If its wrong then you arent going to have much hope in getting the correct treatment
