is it working?

Basically been weaning myself of the pred, finally got to 5mg (1 tablet) the other week and started having problems again- hurt in my side to wee etc (i'm also taking pentasa) anyway, went to the doctor and he told me to go up to two again and also found I had a waterworks infection so we thought perhaps this was the thing that was making it play up. Been back too 1 again for the past 5 days and already my crohns is playing up again.. waiting for the doctor to call me back. does this mean the pentasa isn't working? I'm really freaking out, because already its quite painful in my side (have it of my terminal illium) already, and i'm just scared that it isn't working!! I know it probably sounds stupid, but it was going alright and then as soon as I drop to one, the bloody thing comes back. Does anyone know if theres a possible way off dropping more slowly from 2 too 1, or anything like that?

I'm sorry to hear you are having pain again it is worrying when you think something is working and you start getting symptoms.
I don't know if there is a way of going down slower but my doctor said in most cases of people with crohn's when starting to wean of steroids symptoms return (most not all). Pentasa was the first thing I tried combined with steroids and it didn't have any affect on me. But there are many other medications out there if you find Pentasa isn't working the best thing you can do is phone your GI and let him no what's going on so you can talk things through. X
