I get really itchy skin mainly on my back, neck and abdomen, it comes up as small red lumps and lines which are slighty raised, why does this happen? It has been going on since i started on the Aza which i have been on for about a year now.
Is itching a normal side effect of azathioprine?

I was told when beginning Aza that red lumps and lines (or any skin rashes) were signs of allergic reactions. You've had these for a year? Did you mention it to your GI?
Anti histamines would probably be enough to get rid of cutaneous reactions, but I would first speak with either your GI, a doctor or the very least, your pharmacist.

I havent mention it to my GI or my doctor yet but i did have a letter come through yesterday about my next appointment, so i will mention it then. Thanks

I think I'd at least leave a message for the doctor about this rather than waiting. Especially if these side effects have been going on awhile. Better to be safe than sorry...
