I'm about two weeks out from surgery. I definitely think pain and irritation near the stitches is normal but what about the other side where the actual resection took place?

Is it normal to feel pain in the area of the intestines they cut out? How long does it take to heal?

Also sometimes I feel pain on the complete left which has no flare and no stitches I'm so confused.

I've been wondering the same thing!! I had surgery about 8 wks ago, I had a stricture at the site of my previous surgery. I'm sure I started doing things far too soon, but I was feeling okay (this was around week 4 or 5). Now I'm more sore than I was 3 weeks ago. Most of the soreness (literally feels like everything inside is bruised, I'm so sore if I sneeze, cough, bend over or twist) is on the upper right side where my surgery was, but I also have soreness on the left (?) and down low on the right. I almost feel like I pulled something.

As for answers, I have none. I called my GI (new doc I've only seen once right before my surgery) and he didn't seem incredibly concerned, but he also mentioned he had only seen me once for a couple of minutes a few months ago. Almost like he was blowing me off. Guess I'll have to go into the office to get answers, but my GI is 5 hours away. I hope you get better answers to your questions.

Two weeks isn't that long, give your body a little more time to heal. Good luck!!

Sarah I totally relate to the sneezing and coughing being so painful. It you had a resurgence you should definitely goto the doctor.

My question for my docs is whether my intestines can be in pain where resected. The stitches I'm not worried about just the intestines. I hope crohns isn't returning or there is scar or inflammation from the surgery.

Yes you'll feel pain on the inside just like you can during a flare or while gas passes through etc. Your intestines don't take as long as the outside to heal, hence why you're allowed to eat after what seems a short time (few days to a week). Its not just your intestines that are hurting though, its also your muscles and anything they cut through to get to your intestines. It takes time for everything to stop hurting. If the pain increases or doesn't go away or if you start vomiting or have a fever than you need to be seen right away as those are signs of infection. As for right now, there's no harm in contacting your GI about your current situation. It's already been a couple of days so how are you feeling now?
