Hey guys

So its been 2 years since I quit my job in India and moved to the US to be with my husband. The first year, I applied for a work permit here but it did not get approved resulting in one whole year gone. The 2nd year, Crohn's entered our lives through my husband's intestines, so I did not even bother to apply for a work permit. My hands were so full with this and being at home was a blessing in disguise. Now the 3rd year begins and I am at a loss as to apply for a work permit or not. My husband is definitely doing better now and we have an MRI scheduled in 2 weeks time. Hoping to hear the word "remission" then (Fingers crossed). Something keeps nagging me at the back of my mind. I don't even know if I want to work anymore. But on the other hand, I have a degree in Information Technology and 3.5 years of work experience. I don't want to let it go either.

Wracking my brains about this :(

Hi aarthi hope you do here those magic words 'in remission ' when your hubby has his scan.
Maybe see what the scan tell you, then you may feel in a better place to make a plan on wether to work or not. I agree it seems a shame to let your qualifications sit idle, but see how the results go 1st. That way you will have an idea how your hubby is doing and if you think work could be an option as you may not be needed at home as much. Even part time perhaps for a while. Hope this helps. Best of luck on the results. 💕

I think it's worth it to at least apply for the work permit - if you get it, then you can still decide whether or not to seek out a job, right? And if you don't get it, then that answers things for you.

I hope your husband's scan gives you and him the results that you're looking for! Please keep us posted on how that goes!

Thanks Mandy and Cat. I think I will go for it, the process is such that it starts in April and goes through various screening stages and I will know only in Oct whether I get it or not. That still gives me a lot of time. I will keep you updated :)

Hi ye good idea from cat there. As it takes so long to process (which i didnt know ) then ye apply as soon as you can . Hope all goes to plan. Praying for your hubbys results to be 'in remission ' ☺💕💋
