Hello all,
I am new to the forum and need to ask if anyone else suffers bad joint aches?
I have been diagnosed with CD and IBS for at least 8 years, over the past 4 months i have been getting really bad joint aches, toes, ankles, knees, fingers, wrists, elbows and the bottom of my back! i have have had bloods done for RA all i was told by my consultant was my inflammation levels are high! hes changed my medication from Asacol to Sulfasalazine and so far things havent changed. i also suffer with sciatica which my GP does not think its related.
Totally fed up! the only thing i can take for the pain is paracetamol :(

hi Maria! Welcome to the forum :)

Unfortunately, lots of people with Crohn's have bad joint pain. It can be caused by different medications, or just the disease itself. Sorry you are having a rough time right now. :( But you found a great place to find support!

Could be Crohn's related, could also be something called Ankylosing Spondylitis. There are other blood tests that can be done - I think they drew 5 or 6 vials to rule out AS for me. Some of the joint pains never really go, some of them can be treated. Hope you find yours is treatable, and it is taken care of quickly.

Yeah i had 6 bottles of blood taken, all i know is that the inflammation levels are high, its affecting work and my home life too, the fatigue is awful, i am back on monthly bloods again due to new tablets and they need to check my liver function.
The hardest part is no one knows what its like, i have good days and bad, i talk to my friends and hubby but i think they just think "here she goes again" so i sometimes find it easier to put a fake smile on my face and say i am fine :-(

I have had really bad joints in the past alongside having flare ups, one particular flare up made it impossible for me to move or even get up out of a chair without being in pain. Hope you are sorted soon
