Hi , my name's Jo and i was diagnosed about a week ago after about 6 month of problems. It all happened so quick and i really was thinking the worst. I was fine one day then next symptoms started appearing (blood/mucus going toliet, abdominal pains, diaorraha, anemia, mouth ulcers, lost over a stone in weight) I had blood tests , seen a blood specialist and had a sigmoidoscopy. During the procedure the surgeon suspected colitis and took biopsys. I got the results last week saying that i had crohns. I have been put on Asacol 800mg and Prednisolone. I'm sceduled in December to have a colonoscopy and barium meal x-ray. Im really confused as when i was given my diagnosis by my doctor he was very busy and told me it was crohns and said he would see me soon for more tests. All i know if what i've read about on the internet. I've found this site really helpful .
Thanks for reading , just nice to get it off my chest
Jo :D

So how are you feeling now? Are the meds working for you?

Take care, :)

Hi Jo, I just got my diagnosis too. Scary but relieving to know what it is at the same time huh? It's a shame your doc couldn't spare more time to talk to you but there is lots of advice here, has helped me no end. Have you found the NACC online? I joined and got lots of good info through the post from them. Hope the meds are working for you.

Welcome! You will find a ton of helpful info on this site, I think I was completly lost until I found people who related with me:) Hope your meds are working out for you and hang in there!

Elise :)

Hi Jo,

I know exactly how you feel with a GI tossing you a DX and not saying a word. I have to say you are in the right place, I wish I had joined support networks early on, I didn't think I needed them. I hope the meds are helping you!

Thanks everyone , the meds seem to be working really well (even though i've not been on them long) Still getting night sweats really bad some nights but generally feeling better than i have in ages. Im so lucky that i was diagnosed so quick after ready some of the stories and seeing how long it can take. Defiantly feeling more upbeat. Thanks again guys :)
