Hi everyone. I'm a 42-year-old housewife just dx'd with moderate Crohn's ileitis last week. I think, however, that I've had it for a long time. I specifically remember a time period of running out of energy in my 20's and have never recovered it. I've always had bowel issues.
Anyway, in the last year I've had a couple of fevers of unknown origin, anemia, inflammation discovered in my ileum during a presurgical colonoscopy, a CT scan, and here I am on 3000 mg of Pentasa and feeling far worse than I ever did untreated. But anything is better than steroids. Been there, done that for a different condition, don't wanna go back.
I'm not nearly as depressed as I sound, just feeling the exhaustion and apathy of my second dose of Pentasa.
I forgot to mention I was in the ER twice this year with severe cramps/vomiting. I'd overdosed on fibrous food both times but now suspect it was still Crohn's related. Same thing happened several years ago.
