Since about week 7 or 8 of being on Cimzia, things finally seem to be slowing down for me. I've been feeling great, energy levels have been very good and i have in general been very happy with my body (for once)! Being able to function all day with out crohns pain is just sooooo nice. It's amazing how easy it is to take the good days for granted!

On top of all that happiness we are also expecting a new addition to our family!

Thanks for the praise report...We need more happy news around here. Congratulations as well.

Congrats on the new family member and congrats on feeling better very happy to see your feeling better and its refreshing to read about too.

A new baby! We love babies around here. Just lov'em. My wife won't let me have anymore so I have to pretend. She says she's to old to have more babies! I told her to have the doctor put the plumbing back in. She didn't think it was funny.

Shawne - thank you for sharing your happiness! We love to get that around here and it is good to know when a medication works well for someone. So many people have problems and some of the meds don't seem to work. Very glad it is doing the trick for you!! And *congrats* on the new addition - perfect time for your disease to be nice and quiet right?

YAY!! Congrats on feeling a bit better! I hope it lasts a long time for you.
I don't think we have to many members using Cimzia, so it will be nice to hear how you get on with it.
Welcome to the forum too, I somehow missed you.
When is your addition due to arrive?

Aside from a little tenderness / swelling around the injection site the night i do the injections, Cimzia has given me no problems what so ever. Still need to figure out how i'm going to get rid of my "sharps" though.

Baby is due May 28th. I'm very excited because i'm HOPING this year we will be able to take a REAL vacation and go down to the OBX to visit my mom with the new addition.

Thanks everyone!

Hey - that's near my neck of the woods :O) I hope you get that vacation too - sounds lovely!

So, I was told to take my sharps and put them inside of a 20oz plastic Coke bottle. I would store them up - and you should be able to take them to your clinic or Dr's office to dispose once it starts getting full. Your pharmacy may have a disposal system as well.

Edit: Oh - you are doing Cimzia - have no idea how big that thing is. Are you doing self injection or the spring loaded thingy? I'd ask your pharmacy if they know of how you could dispose of it if they are the ones that are dispensing it.

Shaun, Well done on both bits of news, when is the baby due, something to look forwqrd too. Peggy

@Peaches
Thanks! My mom lives in Kill Devil Hills and works down at Nagshead at a realestate agency. We live in central Pennsylvania so I don't get to see her very often.

As far as the sharps, I have a "Ritas ice" tub with a lid i've been putting them in. I do my own injections and it's not the spring loaded thingy. As thick as this stuff is I don't know that a spring loaded gizmo would work. It takes me forever to push the meds through. I'll check around the pharamacies and see what they can do for me.

@Peggy
Thanks! Baby is due May 28th and we're all very much looking forward to the baby's arrival. Our 5yo daughter is very excited about the baby to. Its all so cool! hehehe

Wow ... its been a while since i've been on here or posted anything .. sooo let me do some updates

irst off, our new addition arrived May 16th 2010. Our new son Isaac Jamison is doing wonderful as is his sister and the rest of us.

Had a wonderful vacation this year! Went to the "Metro Richmond Zoo" where they have an awesome Giraffe encounter. My daughter LOVES Giraffes and not only was she finally able to see one, she was able pet and feed it! Awesomeness!!! After spending the day there we drove the rest of the way to my moms place on the OBX where we spent the rest of the week. Mom FINALLY got to see Isaac, so that to was cool.

Crohns has been behaving. So far i've pretty much been able to eat whatever is put in front of me (with in reason). I was even able to eat corn on the cob this year! It's been a couple years since I could last eat it with out major pain. Now I can eat it with no problems. Still hitting the thrown 5-10 times a day, but I got my first "smart phone" in July (The Droid X) which makes that time a bit more tolerable.

I'm still on Cymzia (2 shots every 4 weeks) and I take immodium when things seem to be getting a little TO frequent.

All that being said ..... anyone have any tips on shtuff for a sore bottom? I know there's a thread floating around on this site with a recommendation, but I forget what it was called and couldn't seem to find it.

If anyone would like to see video or pics and your on Facebook, feel free to add me as a friend. Just make sure you say your from the forums, otherwise i might not accept you.

Laters! :)

CALMOSEPTINE!!!???
Is that the one you are talking about? Ahh.... I love it.

Super congrats on your new baby, he's a fun age right now. Hope your remission keeps up too. So great to hear good news!

OMG you have an emoti for the CALMOSEPTINE LMAO ... i gotta find some this weekend if its that good. :p

Hi shawne, :bigwave:

Welcome back!!! Wow, it's great to hear that your crohns is behaving itself and allowing you to spend quality with your family, how good is that! I hope it continues this way for a very, very long time to come.

All the very best, :)
Dusty

Hey Shawne hope the Cimzia is doing wonders. Alot of people who feel good dont come on here much, so we understand. Trust me if I was in good shape I would be too busy to be on here too. Always look out for number one.

:congratualtions: on your little son, wonderful news!

Hey Shawne, if you can't find Calmoseptine, I find that Preparation H works just as good if not better and it comes it wipes and a cream. Just throwing that out there since I was able to find that one a bit easier. I know at my local Walmart they keep the calmoseptine behind the counter.

Yes, it is that good! Like Crohns08 says, that or zinc cream, but Calmoseptine is amazing. But... ya gotta wear panty liners ..the stuff dont come off

I see a huge difference between Calmo and PrepH, and I've never needed pantiliners with Calmo. All you need is a thin layer. But that's just me.
My pharmacy doesn't always have it in stock, but if you ask them to order it they should be able to get it in quickly. Mine is by the next day. Also, you'll probably have to ask for it right at the prescription counter even though it's not a prescription.
Sorry to turn your happy thread into a Calmo thred, but it's just that good. I am picking up my 5th tube today! I depend on it, even in remission.

Hey that Calmo stuff is the business! We can't get it over here!
I was fortunate to get some delivered from my bestest pal Penny all the way from Canada!
But I tell ya what! It stains like buggery! You gotta wear a pantyliner! Either that or wear old knickers!
Shall I start a poll? Pantyliners or no pantyliners with Calmo? lol

Sorry Shawne for the hi-jack!
welcome back buddy, so glad you're well and happy with your little un
xxxxxxxxxx
