Hi everyone, I'm rom, currently residing in UAE. I am a Filipino. I just found this site through my wife..who's very very supportive of me ( although most of the time I give her tantrums for not allowing me to eat my favorite foods.. :) )

Back in the Philippines in 2006, I had my first colonoscopy. That was when I'd found some blood in my stool. I had no pain but there was frequent visits to the toilet. The doctor diagnosed me with acute gastroenteritis and gave me some medicines.

In 2008 I was already in Dubai. That was when I'd experienced severe stomach pain. I was diagnosed with appendicitis and undergone laparoscopic surgery for removal of my appendix.

After around 6 months, I've had same type of pain again. I went to a different hospital and undergone another colonoscopy. The doctor said that I have crohn's disease. He gave me medicines for maintenance. I was not so serious about my disease that time but managed to religiously take in my medicines.

My company changed health insurance provider so I had to go to another doctor from another hospital for my routine checks. He had me undergone..again.. another colonoscopy and endoscopy and concluded that I indeed have Crohn's disease.

My current medicines are imuran, pentasa, and entocort. My last flareup in 2011 was in November. Then just this January, I already had 2 visits to the hospital. My doctor thinks that i have stricture...

This saturday I will have my 4th colonoscopy to check the actual condition of my ileum and the rest...

Well, that's my story so far. Though I've been diagnosed with this disease in 2009, it's only this January 2012 that my wife and I seriously takes my situation. I'm 27 by the way and just got married last December.

Emotionally, I am upset about not being able to have the food that I want (like bacon, chocolates, etc.). However, I am a very positive person and I know that through reading from this website, we will be able to avoid the flare ups.

I am here to offer support as well to those who need them. I don't think there is an active community here in Dubai for CD..but I am still hoping there would be one at least.

I want to help myself, and others who are suffering. Maybe with this forum, I can do my share.

Kudos to the moderators! :)

Hi anticrohn, welcome to you and congratulations on your recent nuptials! You are currently living in Dubai? I have seen pictures, and I would love to someday visit there. I am glad you found the forum and hope you enjoy it very much :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: You will definetly get a lot of advice and support here so I am glad you have decided to join us. Having to miss out on favourite foods is very hard but if you start a detailed food diary you may find that some foods are still ok for you to eat. The main culprits are dairy and caffeine, foods with little seeds and pips are best avoided as these aggrivate the bowel. Also are you on any vitamins? If not have your levels ever been checked? I really hope the colonoscopy shows that it is inflammation at work and not built up scar tissue, at least that way they can try some new meds to get this under control. Please let us know how you get on.

NB congratulations on your recent wedding :)

hi angrybird! thanks for the advice. I am not taking any vitamins at all but I have to check with my doctor which ones are ok. I am actually taking acidophilus (with billions of bacteria) but my doctor doesn't know (lol). As i write this reply, I am drinking water with klean prep since I'll have the colonoscopy tomorrow. How are your CD's now? God bless!

Hiya :) The main vitamins to check are B12 (you will see many of us are on jabs for this) D and Folate, definetly ask about these at least. Klean prep.....so nasty :( you would have thought they could get some better tasting stuff to give us at least.

I am not feeling too bad at the mo thank you, the odd grumble and sharp *** in the day but that is all. In the evenings my tummy gurgles away, the noises sound so funny it makes me laugh. Seeing my IBD nurse on Monday for a review on how my re-start on the Aza is going.

Hope it it not too awful tomorrow, let us know you get on
