This is a question for the ladies..
I am going to do a fecal calprotectin test. I am at the end of my period right now, last couple days. Not relly bleeding too much at all, but still get the occasional dark blood discharge that you get at the end.
I called the quest labs and informed them and asked the lab tech there. she said it was fine to do the test while on your period. Here is the thing, I was googling it and read in one article where it said that nasal bleeding and menstrual blood can cause an elevated test. I only read this on one article.
Who do I believe? I mean here is the thing. I want to get this test done. I am going for the MRE this week on Thursday. Well I do not always have BM everyday. I thought about waiting until my period is completely over, but then by then I will be doing the MRE where you drink all that barium stuff. Well then after that I definitely will have to wait days for all that barium to clear out of me. I just would like to get this done with.
Have any of you ever done this test on your period and do you think it will mess with the results? I mean my husband said if the lab tech said it was ok, it is likely ok. What do you think???
