Yes and it is to an extend normal. The variation of hormones modifies tons of things in the body of any healthy being, so does it for us... not necessarily for the better.

I know I'm more gassy a bit before and during. Also, I've started having issues with my sacroiliac joint this year. I went through diagnosis and my rheumatologist believe I've had a EIM since many years in her opinion as there were evidence on the xray. Anyway, the point in that is that, I'm not flaring at the moment, my crohn is in remission and even there, I get the digestive symptoms as well as the joint pain increases about 5-ish(worse at 3prior) days prior to my period to the second day following (these are my observation so far). Anyway, hormones variation can trigger additional capacity of movement in some joints which then after cause excess of pain in these due time. Our machine is quite complex...

My point is, as annoying as it is, you are not alone :)

I have always had really bad cramps with my period but my crohn's goes all crazy when it comes on. I get horrible pain, gas, and some diarhia and it usually last for a good week or 2 after. Thankfully the birth control I am taking only has inactive pills one week every 3 months. I still get slightly worse cramps on the weeks that would have been my period but not so bad.
