Last day of Pred tomorrow - how do I feel about that?

I am taking my last Prednisone tablet tomorrow morning and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm elated in one way because my white blood cells are quite high and my GP wants them to come down, and soon!! I'm also happy because maybe I'll lose some of the weight I have put on since starting it - fingers and toes crossed.

But on the other hand, I'm not sure that it has done what it was meant to achieve and help my symptoms. I've noticed that since tapering down that things haven't improved much more and I guess time will tell whether the other medication will be enough to improve things. I guess I go to the loo half as many times as I did before being "medicated", so that is an improvement, but I suppose I was hoping for a miraculous recovery! lol...

Anyway, will see how things settle, but YES I guess I am very happy about not having to be on the PRED...

Good luck Vicki,
you can do it! and even if you can't, don't go back!
I have a love/hate relationship with Pred!

I'm happy right along with you! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope it all goes well. :):):)

Take care,
Dusty

Congrats on being pred free (just about)! I'm sorry it wasn't a miracle worker, boo. Enjoy life without pred munchies!

Yea, be careful with the withdrawal symptoms if you experience any. I know that last time I was taken off I felt like I had a case of food poisoning for over a week (nausea, vomiting, extreme loss of appetite, etc), and my previous GI said "muddle through it."

Hi Dusty - I've been ok since stopping the Pred. I seem to be sleeping much better which is great but still feel exhausted. Just part and parcel of the Crohn's and being a busy mum to two kids I'm imagining. Now I just need to lose the weight I gained which I'm hoping won't take too long. And get the food balance right and hopefully things will be ok for me.

Thanks for caring :)

Oh I hope so too Vicki. Please do keep us posted on how you are going.

Take care, :)
Dusty

Yay Vicki
congratulations huni!!!
you might get some joint pains, but like sci-fi says, we gotta muddle thro it!
just don't do what I did, go on Entocort to alleviate them, it's the pits!!
I was sooooooooooooooo foggy and brain dead on it!
xxxxx

Hi Joan - yes I do have some joint pains but not too bad and have had a few headaches as well (really bad one today) so wondering if that might be from going off the Pred. But my tummy upsets are not right still so not sure the other medication is fully working the way it needs to, but than again I've had quite a few bad days of eating rich foods - doubt that will help me much!! Chat soon
