I wasn't sure where to put this but i saw this on the tv the other night and decide4d that this would be a good place to share... No this isn't spam, just something i might try to see if it helped anyone. Apparently they are saying use of acutain can lead to diagnosis of crohn's. I have never use it but my cousin did and she has UC now. So i thought i would share a few of the links.

This might sound like a dumb question... but since there is no known cause or cure for Crohn's, how can they say taking that drug can lead to it?

Man I love the legal system! LOL

I got asked to be a part of an accutane/crohn's lawsuit about 8 years ago. I took the drug shortly before I got Crohn's.

My step mom just told me about this today! I never took it, but my sister did and she may have Crohn's now too! They are waiting on her biopsies to come back to giver he an official diagnosis. My stepmom is worried now because my other younger sister used acutane as well and seeing's to how Crohn's (sister and I have) and UC (my dad has) seems to run our family she's wondering if she will end up with it too! Hopefully she will get lucky and it will skip over her!

I've never taken it before. I always had great skin until I ended up on pred. Never been the same since.
I had the same problem with the Prednisone!!! I had great skin and now I can't seem to get it to clear up and it's driving me INSANE!! Guess we could use the Acutane since we already have Crohn'a huh? Hehe :)

I wonder if anyone who has researched this knows if those who get Accutane associated IBD generally get it either while on, or immediately after, taking the drug? I had my 1st GI symptoms (still no firm diagnosis) at least 15 years after taking Accutane for the last time. Anyone happen to know?

I took it when I was about 13/14. Never really had bad acne either, just some patches where my football helmet would rub.

I then got Crohn's about 2-3 years later. No other history in my family, rarely had a sick day in my life. Then bam!

I have never even heard of accutane until this forum, let alone taken it. So it had nothing to do with my diagnosis.

I took accutane in high school. It is a "last resort" for treating acne and has been linked to crohns. I am 22 year old now, I have right abdominal pain frequently, diarhea or abnormal bowel movements and I only weigh 122lbs @ 5'-9". I am getting checked out by a gastro Dr. soon! I've been to several doctors over the years trying to find out what this pain is. They tested me for all sorts of things, but Crohns never came up...Interesting...

It seems that crohn's is a genetic thing that is brought out by environmental factors like stress, trauma, illnesses, death of a loved one, or anything that pushes your body over the edge. So it is possible that acutain could have caused internal stress to the point to trigger your genetics.
