Hey guys,

I just started having some knee pain on Monday night and it got worse on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today it seems to feel better. I am a little concerned because I have never injured my knee before and I can't for the life of me think what I did to have caused this pain. I remembered that my GI always asks me if I have joint pain when I visit him. Do you think this could possibly be caused by my Crohn's? If so I think it is a little strange that I have never had this symptom before and now I do all of a sudden. That and I haven't had a flare in over a year. I am also concerned that this may be a warning sign that a flare is coming. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Cameron

Crohns can cause joint pains but it's not necessarily causing actual damage. The treatment would be the same as treating the crohns but pain killers can be added. I'd keep an eye on it and notify your GI.

As nogutsnoglory said, it's definitely possible. Be sure to let your GI know! I also experience knee pain at times (more so in one knee or the other, but fortunately it's been so long I'm not certain which knee it is). It occurs more often when I'm unwell or have been active. My rheumatologist determined the cause to be uneven cartilage under my kneecap, and nothing to do with Crohn's (as we had originally suspected).
