Leg swelling due to Prednisone

Good morning,

I've been on prednisone for the last 20 days. Started at 40mg now I am down at 30mg.

Anybody know if I will suffer any withdrawals symptoms or anything like that other than the CD symptoms. Those I know might reappear if my 6 mp treatment does not work well.

I also woke up with my left leg a bit bigger and with a small sharp pain when I woke up. Just wondering if it can be related to the fact that I am taking less pred.

HI there, yes, pred can cause leg pains but usually for me it is short lived. I can't tollerate 6mp, but not sure that makes it worse, can't help you there. I find with Pred that if I exercise a few min later I get a shooting pain and then it goes away, happens only on Pred. Hope that helps. Nothing major to be concerned of unless you have a bump on your leg, then I would get it checked out.

I usually find it causes more joint pain than anything...ie. I feel like a 90 year old my joints hurt so bad when tapering

Glad I caught this one, weaning 40 to 35 myself right now, and was wondering about the leg pain, didn't get it before. And like Kirsten, I too, feel the joints more. I make noises and everything. Ha ha Generally feel terrific on the pred tho, this is my third go around...and hopefully the last.

hi guys ive never realy had any issues with the pred apart from when i get down to about 5mg then my symptoms flare back up again.im now on 6mp so i'll be starting the tapering down again and if it doesnt work then i know the 6mp isnt working and it'll be an op next,hope you get on ok with the pred tapering down.

Hainman...I find too that once I go to every other day (for some reason my doc doesn't do the 5mg...he said every other day...) I start having my symptoms flare back up. I am praying the Aza will do it for me...this time...good luck!

As for pain...I have a pain in my left hip...didn't think of the pred...maybe that is it...a little numbness...goes away...but maybe that is what it is...I just hope the weight goes away quickly...
