Just picked up lialda this evening and the instructions on the bottle are take four pills a day with food. Does it matter if they are all at once or is two in the morning and two at night ok?

i was told to take them all at once... i question it a bit though as when I am really bad off out they come 2~3 hours later, hardly dissolved or touched. when doing better they completely dissolve/do there job.

pretty hard toss up depending on where you are at in a flare, so i just keep taking them all at once per dr's instructions if they help or not I am thinking they do a bit though as this last flare they at least kept the burning at bay even with the early eject from my body...

I usually try new medicine at night in case of side effects, and with this one I'm glad I did! I took all four last night and within an hour I felt the effects. The best way I know to explain it was I felt almost like I had a few drinks, just enough to feel it. Went to bed and this morning that feeling had completely gone. I think I'll take them before bed instead of in the morning. Once they are in your system it really shouldn't matter, right?

When I was on Lialda I was told to take all 4 with my last meal of the day. OMG I miss Lialda, Pentasa tastes SO GROSS.

I haven't really noticed any taste to the lialda at all, which is good! It seems to be helping some. There is more form to what is there, but the stomach pain is still really bad at times (think child birth) and the urge to get to the bathroom quick, fast, and in a hurry is definitely still there. Seems odd that it helps with one thing but not the rest. Oh well, hopefully it will help more before I go back on the 3rd.

I always thought Lialda tasted pretty bad (It tastes like very strong pot to me.) so I can't imagine how bad Pentasa must taste!
And I have exactly the same problems with Lialda and the pain & urgency.

I take mine in the morning before I eat. I started taking 4 but once things calmed down I was told to drop down to two. But when I do get mini flares and some D and I just take 4 for a few days and it helps get me back on track.

I did read that the coating is made to dissolve based on ph levels. So in your stomach and small bowel the ph is not right to make the pills coating melt off, so I don't think it matters if you eat or not, it is supposed to make it to the large bowel not on time but based on the ph level change once it gets there. I have fish oil pills with the same "enteric" coating

I was prescribed to take 2 of the 1.2g dose of Lialda and then my GI upped to 4. He said to take 2 in the morning and then 8 hours later take 2 more.

Only thing is I have the issue of passing the outer coating of a pill during a BM and sometimes it feels like a piece of plastic. Not a very fun experience, to say the least.

My dr warned me about possibly seeing the coating, but so far I haven't. Not sure if that makes me weird or not! He just added an anti diarrheal (I can't spell that for anything!) and taking one a day or even every other day is helping with the cramping and urgency. So far so good!

I have just increased from 2x1.2g tablets in the morning to 2 in the morning and 2 at dinnertime (evening). I believe they are really licensed to be taken all at once, but my consultant also said to split them if I wanted, as it's a lot to take in one go. It shouldn't make any difference as they have a 24hr effect, I believe.

I do think it is important, however, to follow the instructions about taking them with food, as their release is based on being transported to the right place with the right pH. Taking them with food obviously assists this process otherwise it wouldn't be specified.

Lialda was not big deal to me, when I took it. I took it without food and was fine for about 2 years until an abcess formed in my small intestine. Doc put me on pentesa. I take 4 pills in the morning and 4 after lunch. I don't think it was any kind of taste at all. Mine are blue capsules with little tiny grians of meds in them. So far they work amazing.

I am glad you guys noticed the smell/taste.. they smell like skunk to me..
I havent noticed any coming back out the other end but I am not seeing much in the way of relief from them either..
Oh and I take 3 at one time

They don't seem to be helping me as much now as they were before, but I still don't really smell or taste them. Maybe it's time to have my nose checked!

thinking of going to California to get me some marijuana for this disease.
From what I gather it may help put it in remission quicker. I worry about my liver handeling all these drugs for Crohns. Anyone try marijuana? has it heped?
