I've recently been diagnosed with Crohn's and am still trying to figure out what to do with all of these symptoms. I've been on Asacol for almost 6 weeks now (as soon as I was diagnosed) and I had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago. Some of the symptoms I have seem pretty straight forward, but all of the sudden I've been getting light-headed to the point of incapacity. Two days ago it was unbearable, yesterday it was mild and today it's unbearable again. I feel it right in the front middle part of my head. My other current symptoms are a fissure that seems to be mildly bleeding, night sweats and diarrhea yesterday and the day before. I don't have a tendency to have diarrhea; and I've been drinking lots of fluids...
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Robin
Lately i have been experiencing light headed sensation . This can happen even when im just sitting there in a chair. very weird feeling . I have been on Asacol for two years and have not had any side effects like this .
recently I have been treated fro a helicobactor stomach infection and had a cocktail of antibiotics and I am still on a drug called omeprazole. I believe the dizzyness im gettin is a result of this drug although my LRQ pain is pretty constant at the moment too. I m going back to see my doc if this persists as any change needs investigated.
All your other symptoms are almost indentical to mine.
My guess is that its something to do with your gaul bladder removal.
Hope you get some answers soon.
Peter

You are still fresh out of surgery and the body takes time to heal. Between the sweating and diarrhea you are probably becoming dehydrated. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids but also replenish your electrolytes.

Have you had your blood levels checked recently? Are you short of breath? Headaches, restless or jumpy legs? There is a chance you might be anemic. It happens easily enough, and recent surgery could certainly impact that as well. Get it checked out soon.

That sounds like anemia or dehydration to me. Since you are having so much dizziness, it might be a good idea to get tested for anemia. And dehydration is always a risk with IBD because we have a hard time absorbing and keeping in fluids. Just be sure to drink a good amount of liquids. I hope you get this sorted out and feel better soon.

I'd definitely ask to have my vitamin levels checked if I were you. Low levels can lead to light headedness, and bleeding could cause low iron. It could also be dehydration, but that seems less likely if you're pointedly drinking lots of fluids.

I get light headed during my period, due to low iron.
