Planning a physical soon with my primary just for general checkup, but in last week have been lightheaded and dizzy on three separate occasions. I have a history of anemia even when not obviously flaring so would it be more appropriate to call hematologist who gives me my B 12 and iron infusions instead, even though I am NOT tired which is usual red flag? I will definitely call one of them tomorrow, just not sure who makes more sense. I should also add I have lost ten pounds in past six weeks by cutting back on desserts and snacks and increasing my walking. Too fast?

Hey Malice67,

I was thinking of you. Maybe dehydration could be part of the issue? Can you tolerate sports drinks like Gatorade? Or maybe get some electrolytes from the pharmacy? I make sure to drink 2-3 litres 1/2- 3/4 gallon of filtered water per day in the summer it's a gallon or so. Yep i pee a lot. but I also work hard and sweat too.

Whatever you do don't drive if you feel faint.

Hoping you feel better, your bud,

Weirdly enough, once I made the appointments I haven't felt faint again. but keeping the appointments anyway... I feel like the broken appliance or car that works when the repairman is present!

I hear that! I make the appointment, then when they see me the problem is no longer there.

It still doesn't change the fact that you should get it checked out. You never know right?
Always better to be safe than sorry.

Wishing you good health and better days ahead,

cmack

Anemic, but only a little... waiting for ferritin numbers and then will send request for infusion to the insurance company. Hematologist said "well of course you get anemic if you have crohns. We will get your numbers up and send these results to your GI"

Malice67,

So glad to hear you have a good Hematologist, I will be here for your moral support if you need me. I think you are making progress so that is never a bad thing. keep us/me updated.

Looking forward to talking to you again.

Your friend,

cmack

I have low blood pressure which can cause me to get dizzy, but I also think dehydration is also a culprit.

Malice67,

Great news! I hope your dizzy spells are going to go away for good. They can be so dangerous. I once fainted from a new medicine and split my head open. No fun at all! Could have been much worse though. Be careful even coffee tables can bite you!LOL that's what got me (and a Maple one at that)!

Wishing you the best of luck and be sure to keep us updated,

your bud,

cmack

I also have low blood pressure....and always anemic......and get dehydrated very easy. Uggh Its never ending with this thing!

Hey dejavucandice,

Can i just call you Candace? I have such trouble with the spellings of such unique names.LOL I only learned the Queens English. Sorry I'm just bugging you a little. I just wanted to see if you are OK. Don't be afraid to give me a shout I really like people. I promise I won't bite!

your bud,

cmack

HAHAHA yes, you can call me Candace most people do. :) I am doing much the same. This morning some dizziness and minor pain or perhaps I just have a high pain tolerance....since I am of course a woman! I am very glad its Friday though and I get to hibernate for two whole days after this!!!! Although im very much hoping I have some energy to get to some badly needed cleaning done. I like my house to be picture perfect and I have sadly had to try and let that go as it adds to my stress and perhaps symptoms. I haven't even been able to partake much in my crafty hobbies. I sleep so much. I guess its a good thing im very much of an introvert. I don't really miss going out that much right now. Thanks for asking cmack and stay safe out there in BC. I see you are getting some of our Manitoba weather out there and seems we may be getting yours. Its supposed to get above zero here and expecting some rain.

Candace,

Just chip away at your chores. Don't overdo it and stay hydrated. That's my best advice.
You will get caught up eventually. Slow and steady. What's up with the weather hey? We haven't had a snowy year like this in almost two decades. Hope you stay safe too. My hobbies seem to get cut short as well but I'm going to try to set a few hours aside this weekend and have a little fun. Hope you do too.

Nice to hear from you,

cmack

What I hate is the up and down - never being able to predict. A couple days before the dizzy spells hit I was able to ice skate for almost 2 hours/day two days in a row... now walking from one side of my high school to the other make me have to sit down and rest... this is all in the same month! I have another field trip in two weeks, will have one infusion in by then, so hopefully I will be able to keep up... this time it is indoors and at a museum so if I have to I can take lots of breaks and sit and watch. But the following trip includes a 2 hour hike, so I need to be recovered fully in a month. At least my boss has been supportive and has told me to tell the kids they have to come at lunch for help that I am not available after school. She make me either lie down and take a nap during my planning period (last period of the day) or leave early so I can sleep at home. ANd she gave me extra time to get some non-teaching paperwork finished. I don't know what I would do without a supportive boss, feel so fortunate!!!!

ugh!!!!! Just re-read my insurance approval for tomorrow's infusion... they approved injectafer, not venafer!!! I had a reaction last time I took injectafer and ended up in ER for four hours. I tired calling the insurance's 24 hour number, but clearly on the weekend they are not fully staffed. They tried to tell me that because it was a medication I had to get it cleared through my prescription insurance (different company) ... even when I explained that it was an IV medication that I received at the doctor's office, and that they had covered it at least ten times previously. So now I wait and call doctor's office tomorrow am and see if they can explain it to the insurance and get a same-day approval. If not, I will have to wait another 3-5 days to get new approval, and then I will have to go the the office that is 30 miles further away.

thanks for all the support here or I would just go nuts!!!!

Getting correct infusion now, called dr in am and they called insurance.. all is good. Thanks for the support

Still a little tired but not as bad as it was. Had second infusion yesterday, get the third one next week. Hgb on the was up but still anemic. But headed in right direction
